The Word of God

2 Timothy 3:16

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Why do we need the Word of God?

THE BIBLE, also referred to as the Scriptures or God’s Holy WORD, has One Author. That Author is none other than God Himself. The sacred Words that we read from the pages of the Holy Bible came into existence through God’s divine authorship. The phrase “given by inspiration of God” means “divinely breathed-in.” Scripture reveals the Creator. Scripture reveals the Savior. Scripture is the express revelation of God Himself to mankind; and it speaks to us; continually unveiling great truth that we need to live righteously before Him. Scripture reveals man’s sin; Scripture declares God’s judgment in response to sin. And of utmost importance is that fact that the Word reveals what mankind must do to be restored to fellowship with God due to the fall of humanity –when Adam and Eve disobeyed Him and sinned in the Garden of Eden.

Scripture says a great deal about itself. Said another way: God has a great deal to say about Himself. This is true because the Scriptures are an inseparable component of the Godhead. The Godhead is the sum-total of all of God’s qualities and characteristics. God and His Word are One and the same: Scripture reveals God’s Holy Character Traits. Furthermore, God declares that “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). This destruction is a result of error that comes from not knowing the Scriptures, or the Power of God (Matthew 22:29). So, to find our way to God, it becomes essential to search the Scriptures (John 5:39) and study them; showing ourselves approved unto Him (2 Timothy 2:15).

2 Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: (20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Psalms 119:89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
